The UPG file is for upgrading an existing 2.0 bootloader. New In This Release ------------------- Release 2.0.8 August 2001 In AS-2000 System Release 2.10.01 we include a new bootloader version 2.0.8 that provides improved compatibility with future hardware revisions. Release 2.0.5 May 2001 In Access Server System Release 2.02 we include a new bootloader version 2.0.5 that provides additional features in upgrading new versions of Access Server Images. It also provides fixes for a potential problem with handoff of clients between access servers under some system configurations. Release 2.0.3 May 2001 In Access Server System Release 2.0 the bootloader version 2.03 working with the AS Image provides the ability to upgrade the bootloader via the Ethernet. Compatibility With Other Released Access Server System Components ----------------------------------------------------------- The Access Server BSP/Bootloader Version 2.0.8 is compatible with the following other Access Server System Components: AS Clients: Version 2.1 or above for handoff capability and 1.1 or higher for non-handoff capability AS Manager: Versions 2.10.01 AS-2000 Image: Versions 2.10.01 Migration from BSP/Bootloader version 1.07 to BSP/Bootloader version 2.0.8 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Access Server image versions 1.56 or 1.56.02, with BSP/Bootloader version 1.07, can be upgraded to BSP Bootloader version 2.0.8, using the following procedure: 1. Download the AS-2000 image 2.10.20 to the selected AS-2000. 2. Upgrade the AS Manager by uninstalling AS manager release 1.53 and install AS manager release 2.10.20 3. Place the BSP/Bootloader .org image 2.0.8 in the TFTP server directory. Ensure the TFTP server is running. 4. Telnet to the selected AS-2000 to be upgraded to 2.0.8 BSP/Bootloader. This is done by typing ?telnet "AS-2000 IP address"? at the DOS prompt. The default telnet password is 1private. 5. At the telnet prompt type in the BSP/Bootloader download command. AS-2000 Name> download {TFTP server IP address? bsp_org2.0.8.aif orgbspbl 6. Verify from the AS Manager alarm screen and the TFTP server that this file was downloaded successfully. 7. The new upgraded BSP/Bootloader will not take effect until the AS-2000 is rebooted. At the telnet prompt type reboot {time}. Time can be from 0 to 3600 seconds before reboot occurs. 8. Check that the BSP/Bootloader 2.0.8 is active by using the device configuration, System Parameters, Inventory Management window on the AS Manager. The Field BSP/Bootloader version will display 2.0.8. Note: This will only be seen if the BSP upg has never been installed or if the BSP UPG 2.0.8 has been loaded Upgrading from BSP/Bootloader versions 2.0.1/2.0.3/2.0.5 to version 2.0.8 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Access Server image version 2.00.23 (beta) or 2.01 with BSP/Bootloader version 2.0.1/2.0.3/2.0.5 may be upgraded to BSP Bootloader version 2.0.8, using the following procedure: 1. Place the BSP_UPG file in the appropriate TFTP directory. 2. Ensure that the TFTP is running. 3. From the AS Manager, select the AS-2000 to upgrade. 4. From the AS Manager, click on the password and logon to the selected AS-2000. 5. From the AS Manager, Click on the Device Function button. 6. Click on the download button. 7. Enter the appropriate TFTP IP address. 8. Enter the TFTP filename BSP_UPG2.0.8.aif or what ever the BSP upgrade filename that was placed on the TFTP directory. 9. Select from the file type BspBootloader. This will be an option from the pull down selection. 10. Click OK. This executes the BSP TFTP to the AS-2000. 11. The Alarm screen will display an alarm showing the TFTP was successful. 12. The AS-2000 needs to be rebooted in order for the new BSP/Bootloader to take effect. 13. Once the AS-2000 is rebooted. Check that the BSP/Bootloader 2.0.8 is active by using the device configuration, System Parameters, Inventory Management window on the AS Manager. The Field BSP/Bootloader version will display 2.0.8.
